Essie Fondly called "Omi" April 21, 2017

My brother, Jeremy narrated to us about meeting a lady with a heavy Homa (read Nkhoma) accent and she chatted with him:

"Umakhala ndi omiako?"

"Umakhala ndombuwako?"

I cant remember what else the lady said, but from that time we started to refer to my mother as "Omi"!
Jeremy Just being mom April 20, 2017

The period is sometime in 1980. She's in her Sunday best and destination is Kwekwe hospital to catch an ambulance to Harare for my scheduled surgical procedure.

I am very worried in my child's innocence. She doesn't show much emotion coz between the two of us, she obviously has to be the stronger.

We have to walk the distance and when I reflect in this time, all I can see is the sacrifice of a mother for her only son.

Am still processing the events from 13th February 2017.

Rest well omi.

Essie Great Christian Legacy April 17, 2017

My earliest memory of my mother is of her in a Womens Guild uniform with a baby on her back, taking me to church. The baby must have been Anna and I must have been four or five years old. My last memory is of her in her uniform but this time in the casket. Thank you for your great Christian legacy. Sleep well mum. I miss you loads.
